United States Postal Service (USPS) wishes to inform the designated operators of UPU member countries that Hurricane Florence, which has been causing historic levels of flooding in the Carolinas, has now been downgraded to a tropical depression, but remains a serious threat. The storm continues to dump extreme amounts of rainfall, producing flash flooding, river flooding and a risk of landslides. Areas affected include much of North Carolina and portions of South Carolina and southwest Virginia.
USPS is continuing to monitor the storm as it moves inland, and its top priority is the safety of its customers and employees. Some post offices have suspended operations, mainly in the areas with postcodes range from 27000 to 29999 and 23000 to 23999. Deliveries and other services in the region will also be affected.
For information and updates, please refer to the USPS Service Alerts at http://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/welcome.htm.
USPS thanks all designated operators for their understanding.
